Wachovia Championship Media Credential Applications Due

Apply online at www.wachoviachampionship.com by April 19, 2004

CHARLOTTE N.C., March 30, 2004 –  Media credential applications are now being accepted online at www.wachoviachampionship.com for the 2004 Wachovia Championship, tournament officials announced today. The online media credential applications are due April 19.

Applications for credentials will be considered from representatives of daily newspapers; wire/news services; national or international golf magazines that regularly provide tournament coverage; news and sports magazines that regularly cover golf; national radio and television networks; local radio and television stations within the Southeast; recognized golf or legitimate news Internet sites that update news content daily.

Due to the large volume of requests, tournament officials will accept only one application per news outlet/agency. Please note that we are unable to accept requests for personnel not directly involved in coverage of the tournament, including sales, marketing or any other non-news personnel. Credentials are not allocated to freelance writers or photographers.

The application does not ensure that credentials will be given; all applicants will be notified regarding their credential status prior to the tournament, which is being held March 3-9 at Quail Hollow Club. Last year, more than 200 reporters – including from as far away as Japan – covered the Wachovia Championship, which features many of the world’s top golfers and one of the PGA TOUR’s largest purses – guaranteeing the winner in excess of $1 million.

Proceeds from the 2004 Wachovia Championship will benefit Teach For America, a national education foundation that provides a corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit to teach for two years in underserved urban and rural public schools.
