Wachovia Championship Posts Another Sell Out
Ticket sales surged again this year, building on the success of the prestigious inaugural event in 2003.
CHARLOTTE N.C., April 25, 2004 – Tickets have sold out for the second Wachovia Championship May 3 -9 at Quail Hollow Club, tournament officials announced at 8 p.m. this evening. Ticket sales surged again this year, building on the success of the prestigious inaugural event in 2003.
“Ticket holders know that they will be able to see a premier event on a magnificent golf course with one of the best fields on the PGA TOUR,” said Kym Hougham, tournament director. “The response from the Charlotte USA region has just been outstanding.”
The Wachovia Championship’s $ 5.6 million purse is one of the highest purses on the PGA TOUR, guaranteeing the winner in excess of $1 million. The Wachovia Championship has already received commitments from last year’s winner David Toms, as well as Phil Mickelson, K.J. Choi, Shaun Micheel, Rich Beem, John Daly, Davis Love III, Jay Haas, Chris DiMarco, Nick Price, Justin Leonard, Lee Janzen, Sergio Garcia, Vijay Singh, Ben Curtis, Stuart Appleby and Mark O’Meara.
