Wachovia Championship Tickets Go on Sale Nov. 15
As tournament enters its third year, sell-out tradition means fans should buy tickets early for May 2-8 event
CHARLOTTE N.C., November 15, 2004 – Tickets went on sale today for the 2005 Wachovia Championship, the PGA TOUR event that returns to Charlotte May 2-8, at Quail Hollow Club.
Ticket sales for the general public started at 8 a.m. this morning. Tickets may be purchased online by visiting www.wachoviachampionship.com or by calling (800) 945-0777 (8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays).
The Wachovia Championship’s $5.6 million purse, one of the largest on the TOUR, guarantees the winner in excess of $1 million and is once again expected to draw the world’s greatest golfers, according to Kym Hougham, tournament director.
Last year, Joey Sindelar won in front of a sold-out crowd of 35,000, beating a field that included
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, V.J. Singh, the 2003 Wachovia Championship winner David Toms, among others.
Weekly ticket books for the 2005 Wachovia Championship cost $130 each, and include admission to all seven days of the tournament. With weekly ticket books, the same person does not have to use the ticket each day, allowing family members, friends and business associates to share the excitement of the event.
Daily tickets also will be sold beginning on Nov.15 as part of a special holiday promotion that ends Dec. 27. After the holiday sale, any remaining daily tickets will go on sale in the spring.
This year, a new Practice Pack that includes daily tickets for Monday through Wednesday is being offered for $25. Daily tickets for the competition are $30 each for Thursday and Friday and $40 each for Saturday through Sunday.
Beginning on Nov. 15, tickets may be purchased by visiting www.wachoviachampionship.com or by calling (800) 945-0777
Tournament officials are encouraging fans to buy tickets early, as a limited number will be available.
“We sold out last year, and we’re expecting another sellout in 2005,” says Kym Hougham, tournament director. “Renewal orders from last year’s ticket purchasers were very strong, so first time buyers really need to act quickly.”
