Wachovia Championship Single Day Tickets on Sale Monday
Fourth-Year Sellout Anticipated; Ticket Sales Strong
CHARLOTTE N.C., February 24, 2006 – Remaining single day tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 27 for the Wachovia Championship that returns to Charlotte May 1-7, 2006, at Quail Hollow Club.
Ticket options include a Practice Pack that consists of daily tickets for Monday’s pro-am along with Tuesday and Wednesday’s practice rounds for $25. Tickets for the first two rounds Thursday and Friday are $30 each and tickets for the final two rounds Saturday and Sunday are $40 each. The general public may purchase tickets by visiting www.wachoviachampionship.com or by calling (800) 945-0777.
To accommodate families, children ages 12 and under are free with a paid adult admission (one child per paying adult).
Weekly ticket books are also available and cost $130 each. The books include admission to all seven days of the tournament. With ticket books, the same person does not have to use the ticket each day, allowing family members, friends and business associates to share the cost of the event. Weekly ticket books may be purchased by visiting www.wachoviachampionship.com or by calling (800) 945-0777.
“Between our renewal option for previous ticket holders and our fall sales for those holiday shoppers, we are seeing another high demand for tickets this year,” said Tournament Director Kym Hougham. “We encourage fans desiring to see one of the strongest fields assembled on one of the game’s toughest golf courses, to act quickly. We expect to have our fourth straight sellout weeks before the tournament begins.”
Proceeds from the 2006 Wachovia Championship will benefit Teach For America, a national education foundation that provides a corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit to teach for two years in underserved urban and rural public schools.
The Wachovia Championship’s $6 million purse is one of the highest on the PGA TOUR, guaranteeing the winner in excess of $1 million. In 2005, the Wachovia Championship signed an agreement with the PGA TOUR to hold the event in Charlotte through the year 2010.
