Making the Wachovia Championship accessible to golf fans with disabilities is an important goal for Wachovia. Deborah Hendrix is a Wachovia employee who is volunteering for the second year with the Special Needs Committee. Her enthusiasm and personal commitment is inspiring.

"I was so excited to be a part of something so big. I have helped with Habitat for Humanity and some other non-profit organizations, but nothing that was on the scale of the Wachovia Championship.  I had a wonderful time last year meeting and helping people and being able to participate and represent Wachovia.  I can't wait to do it again!"

Deborah has helped raise a stepdaughter with special needs, and says it's a very fulfilling experience to be able to help those who need it.  "So many of them could not believe all of the special things that were done for them and were so impressed by it.  They applauded Wachovia for taking the time to help them make their experience at the Wachovia Championship more enjoyable.

Many said they would come back year after year because of that.  Some of the people that we met said that they had been to other golf tournaments where no special accommodations were made.  They had to walk long distances and stand up for hours on end.  Most of those people said they would not go back to those tournaments but that they would always come back to the Wachovia Championship."

Thanks to Deborah, and all the other Wachovia Championship Ambassadors, for their personal commitment to making the 2004 Tournament an enjoyable event for everyone.
