Featured Story: Jack Burke
2005

Haven't yet picked up your tickets to the tournament? Lost a pair of prescription sunglasses while attending an early round of golf? Jack Burke may be just the man to see. You can find him and other members of the Will Call Committee in the Will Call station at the Charlotte Coliseum. He's back for a second year.

A marketing consultant who moved to Charlotte from New York in 1996, he freely admits that he hasn't always had the volunteer spirit. All that changed last year when he was enthusiastically recruited by a member of the committee. Jack saw it as a great way to contribute to the community in which he now lives for a game that he has always loved.

On days he serves as a volunteer, Jack manages and distributes tickets held for golfers and their families, caddies, corporate sponsors, Quail Hollow Club members, and all spectators. He also handles "next day" Lost and Found items as another duty of the job.

During off-hours, you're likely to find him taking in the tournament, one of the many benefits of volunteering. Slow to join in, he's caught on fast. The Wachovia Championship could use more like him.
