Caddie Support

This Committee is currently recruiting.

This is not a "sign up" to be a caddie, but rather to be a part of a committee that supports PGA TOUR caddies. Volunteers are responsible for registering all TOUR caddies, and their duties include:

  • Compile a list of all 156 tournament contestants and their respective caddies
  • Maintain, issue, and retrieve caddie vests and player names
  • Assist in caddie towel distribution
  • Ensure correct vest names are available for all contestants

Volunteers are needed Sunday through Sunday. There are two shifts daily to staff with volunteers.

Featured Story: James Johnson
2005

PGA TOUR golfers have been consistent in their praise of the Wachovia Championship. That's true of PGA TOUR caddies, too, thanks in large measure to James Johnson and other volunteers on the Caddie Committee.

From the tournament's inception, providing special accommodations for PGA TOUR caddies has been a priority. Catered food, valet parking, private tents with air conditioning and other considerations contribute to making Charlotte one of the favorite stops on the TOUR for caddies.

A self-described golf addict, James is a third-year volunteer whose main contribution comes early in the week of the tournament. His primary responsibility is to help caddie registration run smoothly and efficiently.

Other duties of the Caddie Committee include handing out yardage books, replenishing towels on the driving range, and distributing caddie vests and player names at the first tee of each round. The biggest challenge, according to James, is collecting the bibs diplomatically at the end of each round.

Being a volunteer is always rewarding, but what gives him the greatest satisfaction is being a part of such a premier event.
