Child Care
This Committee is currently recruiting.
Volunteers will work with the Official Day Care Facility and the PGA TOUR staff to provide primary daycare for PGA TOUR professionals' children.
Volunteers are needed Wednesday through Sunday, and are asked to work two full days instead of four half day shifts. Child Care volunteers will be required to have background police checks.

As a Wachovia employee, Renee Sides was determined to be involved with the Wachovia Championship when it first started. "I wanted to volunteer, but I didn't have a lot of knowledge about golf-so I wasn't sure I'd be able to help. Then I found the Child Care committee and thought I could contribute that way."
PGA TOUR parents rely on this committee to care for and entertain their children during Championship week. All age groups are included, and last year the volunteers cared for children from three months to seven years. Many activities are planned for the kids during the week. "In the past, they've done Mother's Day crafts since the tournament has fallen on Mother's Day," says Sides.
The number of children varies, but the committee strives to have at least two volunteers in each age group. "The biggest class had 10 kids, but some days we only got one or two. It all depends on how many activities are planned for the wives." Child Care Ambassador floaters are always available in case a need arises for more volunteers.
Sides was attracted to the committee because she loves kids, an essential qualification for a Child Care Ambassador. That and having a commitment to fun. Having fun and relaxing, "that's all the kids want to do. They want to have a good time and feel safe where they are."
As for why Sides keeps coming back, "I've truly enjoyed working on this committee. You get to play with six year olds all day-beats working in a cube."
