Transportation
This Committee is currently recruiting.
The Transportation Committee duties begin the Sunday before the tournament and continue through Monday after the tournament. Some volunteers will be needed to help with car staging prior to and after the tournament. Work stations will be in three separate areas—the airport, golf course, and host hotels.
- Provide tournament cars to the PGA TOUR professionals and escort the pros and/or their families when the need arises
- Shuttle other tournament guests as needed
In an effort to provide excellent guest service, the tournament will station several volunteers at each area over three shifts per day. Two shifts must be Thursday through Sunday. Volunteer drivers must be 21 years of age with a clean driving record. All transportation volunteers are required to have a background police check. Other qualifications include an outgoing personality, ability to react quickly when called upon, and familiarity with South Charlotte streets.

Wachovia Championship "Transportation Ambassadors" are volunteers who meet and greet players and their families at the airport. Then, in style, act as chauffeurs to and from Quail Hollow and around Charlotte in a new Mercedes-Benz, courtesy of Beck Imports of Charlotte.
Leb Dixon, co-chair of the Transportation Committee, will help coordinate the team of volunteer "Transportation Ambassadors." He makes sure cars and drivers are always available to provide rides to and from hotels, the golf course, and other Charlotte locations. Leb brings lots of experience to this position-before the Wachovia Championship he coordinated transportation at the Home Depot Seniors Tournament for five years, and volunteered for the annual Russ Dickson Charity Tournament, which was also held at Quail Hollow.
Besides having a pristine driving record, Leb notes, Transportation Ambassadors must be hospitable. "As you know, the first impression is usually the last impression, so it's very important that we treat all the pros and their family members with the highest respect and courtesy," he said. "My past work with the pros and their families has always been a favorable experience for me. They've always expressed their appreciation for my hospitality towards them."
