Cart Committee
This Committee is currently full.
The primary job of the Cart Committee is the distribution and maintenance of carts. This job may require some heavy lifting of battery chargers for the carts. Responsibilities include:
- Provide transportation for officials and carts to power the PGA TOUR scoreboards
- Provide van transportation from various parking lots for patrons and/or other volunteers
Van drivers must be 21 years of age, have a good driving record, and carry a valid driver license during shifts worked. Volunteers are needed the Friday prior to tournament through tournament Sunday. There are three shifts daily to staff with volunteers.

The Wachovia Championship is a huge event and takes many people to make it happen. Ensuring that everyone is in the right place at the right time is a daunting task. That's where Wayne Johnson and the other volunteers on the Cart Committee come in.
Wayne is a Wachovia employee who will be driving a golf cart at this year's Tournament. Along with other Cart Committee volunteers, he's responsible for transporting officials, as well as distributing and maintaining the carts. Though Wayne's passengers aren't likely to be players, he'll still need to make sure PGA officials, tour officials, and other VIPs get where they need to go.
It's no doubt that experience driving a golf cart is useful in this role, but Wayne says a couple rules of golf etiquette-"courteous driving behavior toward pedestrians and remaining on the cart path"-are probably the most important things for a driver to remember. (That sounds like good advice, Wayne.)
Ambassadors are one of the reasons the 2003 Wachovia Championship was such a success, and we asked Wayne why he's choosing to give his personal time to help out this year. "I am especially proud to be an employee at Wachovia," he said, "and it is nice to be part of the Championship, which reflects Wachovia values in the community."
With volunteers like Wayne, the 2004 Championship is sure to be an even greater success this year. Thanks to Wayne Johnson and all the other Wachovia Championship Ambassadors!
