CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The cut in the Wachovia Championship came at 3-over 147, with 85 players set to play the final 36 holes. It is the eighth time in 15 events with a 36-hole cut this season that the cut has been over-par.
- Two players have made every Wachovia Championship cut in the tournament's five-year history. Those extending their streaks this week are Vijay Singh and Kevin Sutherland. Thirty-eight players have made all five starts at the Wachovia Championship.
- Tiger Woods has won 23 different events on the PGA TOUR, including 15 tournaments with multiple victories at a single tournament. One tournament he has not won is the Wachovia Championship. He is making his third start in Charlotte this week. There are five tournaments Woods has played multiple times but has not captured: Nissan Open, Barclays Classic, FBR Open, The International and the Wachovia Championship.
- All 10 of the world's top-10 teed it up on Thursday, and eight of the 10 players will play on the weekend. Luke Donald (+4) and 2006 champion Jim Furyk (+6) were the only players in the top-10 on the Official World Golf Rankings to miss the cut. Henrik Stenson (No. 6) is making his first appearance in Charlotte, while World No. 1 Tiger Woods and World No. 7 Vijay Singh, who are tied for the lead, will play together in the final grouping on Saturday. The last time Singh and Woods played together was in the final round at the 2006 Deutsche Bank Championship, where Woods went on to win.
- The fairway of the par-5 No. 5 has been the most difficult to hit through two rounds, with only 49 players out of 300 landing on the fairway. A total of 21 players hit the fairway on Thursday, while 28 hit it on Friday.
- The second-round scoring average was 74.048, .414 strokes harder than Thursday's first-round. It is the 16th time in 18 competitive rounds that the scoring average has been above par for the tournament. The only rounds that saw a below-par average came in the third-round in 2004 with a 71.806 average and last year in the third round, at 71.753.

- Last year, Ken Duke won $112,500 for winning the Nationwide Tour's BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs. A day later, Duke Monday-qualified to get into the Wachovia Championship field. He went on to win $100,800 for his tie for 14th. Duke finished off his career year by capturing Nationwide Tour Player of the Year honors and finishing first on that Tour's money list. Duke has finished in the top-10 in the last three events on the TOUR, moving him to 29th on the FedExCup points list. His best finish came at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where he finished runner-up to Nick Watney.
- How have the winners done on the closing 17th and 18th holes at Quail Hollow, traditionally one of the toughest finishing stretches on the PGA TOUR? Jim Furyk had two birdies and two bogeys to go with four pars a year ago. Vijay Singh parred the holes in all four rounds in 2005, while Joey Sindelar had a birdie at the 17th in the final round to go with seven pars. David Toms also enjoyed nothing but pars on both holes until he settled for a quadruple bogey 8 on the 18th in the final round of 2003. Despite his travails, he hung on to win by two strokes.
- By winning the 2006 Wachovia Championship, Jim Furyk became the third major championship winner to add the Charlotte tournament title to his resume. Furyk, the winner of the 2003 U.S. Open, joined Vijay Singh (Masters, PGA Championship) and David Toms (PGA Championship) as Wachovia Championship winners who have also won major championships. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Singh are the only players in the top-10 through 36-holes that have won a major championship.
- Arron Oberholser is the only player in the field to post two rounds in the 60s through the first two days at Quail Hollow Club. In the four-year history of the event, no player has managed to post four rounds in the 60s in a single event in Charlotte.

David Howell withdrew before the round on Friday due to a back injury. Stuart Appleby was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard. He signed for a 5 and made a 6 on No. 18.
